Sea of Green Lawn Care is delighted to ply our craft of outstanding lawn care, plant care, and pest control in our hometown. We are also just as happy to perform this science in neighboring towns as well. And, we even carry it to the neighboring state of Massachusetts. Our company is happy to serve the northeast of this state, including the small town of Amesbury. This town has residents who take pride in their properties, and want nothing less than the best. And we want nothing more than to provide it.

The area that is now Amesbury was originally settled by Europeans in 1642. The early American settlement steadily grew, and 26 years later, in 1668, it was officially incorporated as a town, over a century before the original 13 colonial states declared their independence from Britain. In 1996, its charter was changed to that of a city, though many of the residents still refer to it as the “Town of Amesbury.” The original economy here revolved around agriculture and milling, with the first sawmill constructed the same year the area was settled, and a gristmill just one year later. It was an ideal location for milling, with the Powwow River having a 90 foot drop, providing a fast flow to power the mills. The economic makeup of this area would change several times. A century later, it shifted from agriculture and milling to shipping, shipbuilding, and fishing. In the 19th century, textile making, hats, horse carriage building, and the first mechanized nail making factory in the United States was also built in this town. After the advent of the automobile, chassis factories took hold. Today, Amesbury is largely residential, with a downtown district that contains a wide range of small businesses, from boutiques, restaurants, pubs, and small, locally owned service businesses, similar to Sea of Green Lawn Care.

Amesbury houses a population of 16,794 as of the 2010 census, who live within an area of 13.7 square miles, 1.5 of which is water.

A popular recreational attraction in Amesbury is the New England Sports Park, built around a skiing hill. There is snow tubing available, and at the bottom of the hill there are soccer and rugby fields, space for concerts, and a field for obstacle races. Many special races are run at this park, such as the Warrior Dash. It also hosts brew fests.

The style of architecture makes this small city really stand out. There are many Victorian and Federal style buildings, mixed in with more modern architecture since the renovation of the downtown area.

Though Amesbury is a small city, it does fund its own public school system, consisting of two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school, as well as the Amesbury Academy of Strategic Learning charter school, and Sparhawk, a boarding school. Amesbury students also have the option of a vocational-technical education at Whittier Regional, which is located in the neighboring city of Haverhill.

The city also sponsors several events throughout the year. The Amesbury Pines Disc Golf Course hosts the Amesbury Pines Open. In June, the city has its annual block party on Main Street. There is food, beverages, as well as fun activities including face painting and pony rides. The revenue generated from this event goes to the Amesbury Charitable Foundation. Amesbury has a strong sense of community, which is something it has in common with Sea of Green Lawn Care as we relate to our long established customers.
